Background

Hadn't trained consistently since 2021 and was leaning on bagels and rushed late-day meals. Wanted visible change in his upper body and less belly fat.

Goal

To build visible definition in his upper body and shed enough belly fat that the abs he had been chasing actually started to show.

Training

  • Phase 1: Three full body lifts each week built around compounds, plus two mobility and band circuit sessions and one run.
  • Phase 2: Simplified three day split focused on bench, squat, and deadlift while traveling through the holidays.
  • Phase 3: Five day split adding a dedicated arms focus day, a weekly group run, and targeted upper body work.

Nutrition

Built meals around chicken, salmon, and tofu with Greek yogurt and whey shakes to anchor protein intake. Dropped the morning bagel in favor of warm breakfasts. Kept alcohol minimal and chose clear liquor when drinking, with a shift away from bread toward rice and whole grains.
