Background

A teacher at a film and media school who ran track and cross country through the Oakland hills in high school, then spent four decades away from resistance training. Came to Kalos at 64 to build strength and protect her bone density, despite an honest dislike of the gym.

Goal

Build and protect bone density, bring visceral fat down, and stay strong and steady into her sixties and beyond — with the running fitness she used to have back within reach.

Training

Phase 1: Two machine-based sessions a week — chosen because she disliked free weights and needed knee- and shoulder-safe loading.

Phase 2: Program deliberately left unchanged once it produced +3 lb of muscle in a single month; Therese dialed in the big dumbbell lifts.

Phase 3: Dumbbell supersets, dead bugs, upper-back mobility and treadmill intervals at 120–140 bpm.

Phase 4: Back up to three sessions a week on supersets, with the shoulder-friendly swaps made permanent and bands packed for travel.

Nutrition

Pescatarian, 100 g+ protein a day, tracked in Noom and then MyFitnessPal. Carbs added deliberately around workouts and ski days. Batch-prepped steel-cut oats, roasted vegetables and eggs so breakfast stopped requiring a decision.

"I'm totally blown away."
